Children’s Books
“This story is about a young boy named Jackson, who struggles to communicate his feelings and emotions, but through art, he learns to process his thoughts and feelings using colour. Art is his language.”
About Me
Hi, I'm Emma.
I'm an author, educator, and creative advocate with a passion for helping children discover meaningful ways to express themselves.
The inspiration for Brushstrokes came from my own journey as a parent. Watching my son experience big emotions and struggle to find the words to communicate them was both challenging and heartbreaking. Yet through drawing, creating, and exploring art, I began to see another side of communication emerge. It sparked a deeper interest in art therapy principles and the powerful role creativity can play in supporting children's emotional wellbeing.
Through my work in education, I have learned that every child experiences the world differently. Some communicate through words, while others express themselves through movement, imagination, music, colour, storytelling, or art. When we recognise and value these different forms of expression, we create opportunities for children to feel understood, confident, and connected.
This belief became the foundation of Brushstrokes.
Through Everwild Studio, my mission is to create books, resources, and experiences that celebrate the many ways children think, learn, create, and communicate. I hope to inspire children to embrace their individuality, build confidence in who they are, and understand that their voice matters—whether it is spoken, written, painted, drawn, or imagined.
When I'm not writing, you'll usually find me creating art, exploring nature, reading, or developing new resources that support children's wellbeing, creativity, and lifelong learning.
